Beverly Ann (Muir) Mertz 74 went to be with her Lord on February 4, 2021 at UPMC-Western Maryland in Cumberland, MD. She was born at home in Franklin, MD on August 22, 1946. She was the daughter of the late W. Stanley Muir and Anna F. (Gentry) Muir. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debi (Mertz) Langan.
She is survived by her loving husband James E. Mertz, whom she married in 1964; her two sons, James F. Mertz of Westernport, MD and Steven E. Mertz and Misty of Fountain, WV. She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Luke Mertz, Brady Mertz, Erin Langan and Ryan Langan; her sister, Sandra Crossland and Dale of Rawlings, and her brother S. Eugene Muir and Shirley of PA; and her son-in-law, Steve Langan of Lake Wood, WV.
Bev was employed as a bartender at Victory Post # 155 American Legion and Bob Lyon’s Lounge in Westernport, MD. She also worked as a clerk at Moran’s Liquor Store in McCoole, MD.
Bev was a dedicated wife and mother; she loved cooking for family gathering. An orderly and clean home was very important to her. She loved playing Bingo on Thursday nights in LaVale with her good friends. She was a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion auxiliary and the McCoole VFW auxiliary and the Westernport Heritage Society. She was a 1964 graduate of Bruce High School.
In accordance with her wishes she was cremated. The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, WV on Thursday , February 11, 2021 from 2PM until 4PM. A Memorial service will be held at 4 PM with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
