John Maybury

John "Jack" Maybury, 91, of Westernport, MD died on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Sterling Care at Frostburg Village. Born on June 7, 1931, in Piedmont, WV, he was the son of the late J. Bernard, Jr. and Myrtis "Bobbie" (Barfield) Maybury. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Clay and Don Maybury, and a sister, Myrtis Kiddy-Gilroy.
Jack was a graduate of St. Peter's High School, Potomac State College, and West Virginia University, with a degree in chemistry. He also pursued graduate studies at Frostburg State University. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a member of the 8th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. Jack was retired from Hercules/ABL, where he was a Senior Development Engineer in the Quality Assurance Division. He was a member of St. Peter's Alumni Association, Piedmont Council of Knights of Columbus #685, Chief Justice Taney 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Victory Post #155 American Legion, and Queens Point #6775 VFW, and the VFW McCoole, MD.
He is survived by nephews, Michael and Donald Kiddy, and nieces, Patty Kiddy Jones, CeCe Yourshaw, and Melissa Lubin.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Divine Mercy, St. Peter of Westernport at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, with Father Ed S. Hendricks as celebrant. Friends will be received for one prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Westernport. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by Post # 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
