Betty Jackson

Betty L. Jackson 87, of Maryland AV. Westernport, MD died at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018. She was born in Keyser, WV on Nov. 18, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Cecil D. Bateson Sr and Irene (Gatrell) Bateson. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert P. Jackson, who died in 2008, and three brothers Cecil D. Bateson, Charles Bateson and Robert Bateson and one sister, Lillian Scarpinito.

Betty was an active member of Divine Mercy/Saint Peter’s in Westernport and served on the bereavement committee for many years.  She worked at Westvaco before starting her family and worked at Potomac Valley Hospital as a nursing aide for several years. She was a member of the CD of A in Westernport for many years. When she had time she loved to play Bingo and cards with her close friends.

She is survived by her devoted children, Ann Jackson of Mt. Lake Park, MD, Rita Cuthbertson and husband Todd of Keyser, WV, Tim Jackson and wife Sylvia of Westernport and Chris Jackson and wife Tammy of Altoona, PA. She is also survived by her sister Delores Mauk of Fountain Head, WV and her grandchildren, Alicia Cuthbertson, John Robert Jackson, Molly Cuthbertson, Vinnie Cuthbertson, Isaac Jackson, Kisa Muir and Stan Muir Jr. and three great-grandchildren, Kenneth Wiles, Liam Muir and Tacy Lewis and lots of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, WV on Friday from 5 until 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at Divine Mercy/ St. Peter’ on Saturday at 1:30 P.M. with Father Ed Hendrick’s as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Westernport.

The family request that Memorials for their Mother be sent to Divine Mercy/Saint Peter, 127 Church St, Westernport, MD 21562 for use by the Bereavement Committee.
